Will my banking apps, WhatsApp, Instagram, and everyday apps all work?+
Most mainstream Android apps work through Sandboxed Google Play, including popular messaging, transport and entertainment apps. Some banking, enterprise, DRM or security-sensitive apps may have compatibility limitations. Contact us before ordering if a specific app is essential.
Will my current SIM card and carrier work?+
The phone is carrier-unlocked and designed for major Australian networks. Compatibility depends on the exact Pixel model, network bands, VoLTE requirements and your carrier. Confirm any specific carrier or eSIM requirement before ordering.
Can it be tracked? What happens if it's seized?+
No smartphone is completely untrackable. Your mobile carrier can still record network activity, and apps can collect information when you grant permission. GrapheneOS reduces unnecessary system-level tracking and strengthens protection of data on a locked device. The Duress PIN can trigger an irreversible wipe, but no security feature should be described as universally defeating every extraction method.
What is the Duress PIN and how does it work?+
The Duress PIN is a separate emergency PIN that triggers an irreversible wipe of the device. It is intended as a last-resort protection feature. It must be configured and tested carefully, because entering it permanently removes access to the stored data.
Why can't I just install GrapheneOS myself for less money?+
You can. GrapheneOS is free and its official web installer includes the bootloader re-locking step. You are paying GhostEncrypt for the Pixel hardware, professional installation, verification, configuration, compatibility guidance, support and a device that arrives ready to set up without spending hours learning the process.
Does it work overseas?+
Yes. The Ghost Edition is globally unlocked and works on any carrier in any country. Insert a local SIM at your destination and it works immediately. The security features — Duress PIN, encrypted profiles, hardware protection — function identically anywhere in the world. Many of our customers use it specifically because of international travel.
Can I use crypto wallets and DeFi apps?+
Many crypto and finance apps can be installed through Sandboxed Google Play. Compatibility varies, and a privacy-focused phone does not eliminate phishing, account takeover, weak recovery methods or carrier-level SIM-swap risk. Use hardware wallets and strong account security for significant funds.
How do Ghost Profiles work?+
Ghost Profiles are completely independent cryptographic environments on the same device. Each profile has its own apps, contacts, messages, photos, and data — with no shared access between them. A profile is essentially a separate, fully encrypted phone that exists alongside the others. Switching between profiles takes under a second. If you enter the Duress PIN from any profile, all profiles are wiped simultaneously.
Is GrapheneOS legal in Australia?+
GrapheneOS is legal to install and use in Australia. It is an open-source operating system designed for supported Google Pixel devices. Users remain responsible for complying with applicable laws and the terms of any third-party services they use.
What if I lose my phone?+
Unlike a standard smartphone, losing a Ghost Edition does not mean losing your data. Every profile is independently encrypted. Without your PIN, the phone is a completely sealed device — no data is accessible to whoever finds or steals it. The auto-reboot feature also means that after a period of inactivity, the phone reboots into BFU (Before First Unlock) state where all encryption keys are evicted from memory, making forensic access technically impossible.
Can family members use it?+
Yes. The Ghost Edition works as a normal phone for any user. Non-technical family members have consistently found it straightforward — it looks and operates like any Android phone. How does the 30-day risk-free trial work?+
Contact us within 30 days of delivery to request a return. The phone must be returned in its original condition with all included accessories and securely reset. Once the return is inspected, we process the refund according to our return policy. This voluntary trial is in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
What does the 2-year Australian hardware warranty cover?+
It covers hardware faults that develop under normal use for two years from delivery. Depending on the issue, we may repair or replace the device. It does not cover accidental damage, cracked screens, liquid damage, loss, theft, misuse or unauthorised hardware or software modifications. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law remain unaffected.
What is included with lifetime configuration support?+
We provide ongoing guidance for GrapheneOS settings, user profiles, supported app installation, updates and configuration questions for as long as you own the device. It does not include physical repairs, data recovery, third-party subscription fees or support for unsupported modifications.
